London: Macmillan and Co., 1911-45. 12mo. 37 volumes, set. Publisher's limp red/burgundy leather, gilt. Top edges gilt. Silk marker ribbons. Some volumes illustrated. Eight volumes are in their original d/ws. Bindings generally near fine with just trivial rubbing to the spine ends and some slight fading to the spines. Some volumes have previous ownership signatures or other inscriptions. One or two have a bookplate on the front endpapers. A near fine set. Item #4311
Most volumes are reprints from the 1920s but there are some first editions (in any format) included. Complete sets are very uncommon due to the long publishing history and the fact that, though it is called a Uniform Edition, it was never sold new as a set. Someone has clearly spent years putting this together.
