The personal enthusiasm of Victor Gollancz led to the reissuing of The Novels of Matthew Phipps Shiel (1865-1947) whose best-known work is 'The Purple Cloud'. The revised title of this novel uses a racist term coined by a Russian sociologist in 1897. The publisher's archive copy.
