Illustrated throughout both volumes with drawings and black and white photographic plates. Volume 1: Slight foxing to edges of text block. Frontispiece and title page browned as usual (cheap paper). D/w rubbed and dust-soiled with a couple of tiny nicks. Volume 2: Foxing to endpapers and edges of text block (again as usual). D/w slightly rubbed at extremities and toned on the spine. Volume 1 has illustrations by Keith Vaughan, John Minton, Michael Ayrton, Leonard Rosoman and others.The illustrations in volume 2 are all by John Minton.
