Part of the English Masters of Black-and-White series edited by Graham Reynolds. Barnett Freedman seems to have made an occasional habit of presenting copies of this book to his friends. I had one presented to Randolph Schwabe who was a Slade Professor of Fine Art for 18 years. I have been unable to identify 'Humphrey'.
