London: The Nonesuch Press, 1937. Folio. Limited edition. #455 of 950 copies. Original 'simile' vellum covered boards with yapp fore-edges, the sides embossed blind with rules and arabesques, gilt. In blue-grey paper covered slipcase. Printed in Fell types, with De Walpergen's music type and large ornamental initials, by Oxford University Press on Pannekoek mould-made paper. Illustrations printed by the Curwen Press. Silk marker ribbon. Ornamented by M. R. H. Farrar with frontispiece and four further linoleum cuts in colour, and with another linoleum cut pasted to the slipcase. Spine tanned with a very short split towards the tail. Pencil ownership of a resident of Pasadena on the fly and small bookseller's label (Zeitlin Books, Los Angeles) on the rear pastedown. The silk ribbon has become detached and is loosely inserted at the back. The slipcase is faded, tanned, stained and split with small loss. Near fine in fair slipcase. Item #5889

The only book illustrations made by Mildred Farrar who is thought to have died in the war.
