Title on leather panel at head of spine, gilt. Top edge sprinkled blue. Bottom edge untrimmed. Games boards, for draughts and nine men's morris, drawn by Albert Rutherston and printed grey on endpapers. (Dreyfus 15d). 14 colour illustrations by Albert Rutherston and 17 wood cuts adapted from those of Thomas Bewick in the section 'Bird song at morning'. Cloth split at the top of the spine. The Week-end Book was first issued in 1924 and quickly became a best-seller for the Nonesuch Press. This is the first illustrated edition. The illustrations by Albert Rutherston (1881-1953) are his only work for the Nonesuch Press.
