Limited edition. #52 of 85 special copies printed on St. Cuthbert's Mill archival rag paper and bound in quarter leather, gilt, with cloth boards by Desmond Shaw of Cambridge. The cloth portfolio contains 8 prints taken from the original wood-blocks. Cloth and paper-covered slipcase. Over 1,000 engravings described and illustrated. All wood engravings in actual sizes and, where called for, in colour taken from the best available prints. More than 80 not included in Physick's catalogue raisonne appear here. Slight tanning of the leather spines (as usual). With the ex libris of the subscriber, Harold Hugo, on the front pastedown of both volumes and the inside cover of the portfolio. Small bump to one of the top back corners of the slipcase not affecting the books, otherwise a fine, fresh set. Item #6039

Ephemera loosely inserted in this copy include the author's 4 page flyer for the book, copies of Harold Hugo's letter and order reserving a special copy and Skelton's progress report followed by a letter explaining and apologising for the delay in producing the book.
