The type is Eric Gill's Perpetua and it is printed on cream rag Dickinson paper made for this edition. Illustrated with line drawings and auto-lithographs in colour drawn on the stone by Barnett Freedman. Most volumes are a little rubbed at the spine ends, with volume 4 having a tiny split to the cloth at the head of the spine. There are very small, neatly repaired tears to the spines of volumes 1 & 2. A very good + set. Item #6844
Signed by the artist and with his thumb print in red ink, this is probably the most handsome edition of Tolstoy's masterpiece in English. Freedman's delightful illustrations enhance the text.
