Original red buckram over bevelled boards, with gilt lettering to the spines and the Esher coat of arms to each front board. Top edges gilt. Frontispiece and a few other plates in each volume. Spines uniformly faded. Neat ink ownership of Maurice Dean ('16/9/43') and ex libris blind stamp of Derek Gair Gibson to each flyleaf. Near fine. Item #6946
Reginald Brett, 2nd Viscount Esher (1852-1930), Liberal politician, courtier and historian. These volumes were edited by his sons. His biography, by James Lees-Milne, was published as The Enigmatic Edwardian (1986). Complete sets of the Journals and Letters are uncommon.
