'Based on a true story, If Not Now, When? chronicles the adventures, crises and inner transformations of a band of Jewish partisans - Russian and Polish refugees from Nazi terror - as, stranded in occupied territory, they offer what resistance they can to the German army.' The book was inspired by a group of Zionists he met when they hitched a ride on the train returning him to Italy after liberation from Auschwitz. Signed copies of the English edition of Primo Levi's novel are very uncommon. He died in 1987.
