Henry Avray Tipping (1855-1933) was the architectural editor for Country Life for seventeen years. The complete set comprises: Period I. Vol. I. Norman & Plantaganet, 1066-1485; Period II. Vol. I. Early Tudor, 1485-1558; Periods I. and II. Vol. II. Mediaeval and Early Tudor, 1066-1558; Period III. Vol. I. Late Tudor and Early Stuart, 1558 - 1649; Period III. Vol. II. Late Tudor and Early Stuart, 1558-1649; Period IV. Vol. I. Late Stuart, 1649-1714; Period IV. Vol. II. The Work of Sir John Vanbrugh and his School, 1699-1736 (with Christopher Hussey); Period V. Vol. I. Early Georgian, 1714-1760; Period VI. Vol. I. Late Georgian, 1760-1820. With the exception of the faults mentioned, this is an especially nice set in first edition.
