The Manaton Edition of the Works of John Galsworthy.
London: William Heinemann, 1923-36. 8vo. 30 volumes, set. Limited edition. #63 of 530 sets (of which 500 were for sale). Signed by the author on the limitation page of volume 1. Numbered in each volume. Original quarter vellum with parchment boards, gilt. Fore and bottom edges untrimmed and partly unopened. In d/ws as issued. Frontispiece to each volume. Some light foxing to the endpapers of some volumes. Light toning to d/w spines, with a little dust-soiling and minor fraying to the extremities. Near fine in near fine d/ws. Item #5975
An extraordinary survival. Sets are uncommon but this one is as near fine as can reasonably be expected given that it was published over the course of thirteen years and in bindings and jackets that will show any mark. John Galsworthy (1867-1933) was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1932.
