'Over a short period of thirty-six months of the war, until he was tragically lost in Iceland during September 1942, Ravilious made well over a hundred watercolour paintings of British military subjects, with a number of fine lithographs of submarine interiors.' The artwork is beautifully reproduced and is accompanied by over 280 personal letters, diary excerpts and official memos. A lovely copy of a definitive work. From the library of John Commander (1927-2021), designer, lithographer and publisher.
