Spine ends pushed and a little rubbed. Corner tips also slightly worn. Pencil ownership on verso of front free endpaper, 'William St. Clair, October 1984' and additional pencil note. Very good ++. William St. Clair (1937-2021) was a distinguished author and historian publishing, among other volumes, The Godwins and the Shelleys (1989) and That Greece Might Still Be Free: The Philhellenes in the War of Independence (1972, revised edition 2008). His note in this book points to' 'Reminiscences of Byron's first visit to Greece + Turkey pp 39ff.' and this includes Byron's swimming of the Hellespont. A nice copy.
