The Letters of William and Dorothy Wordsworth. I. The Early Years 1787-1805; II. The Middle Years Part 1 1806-1811; III. The Middle Years Part 2 1812-1820; IV. The Later Years Part 1 1821-1828; V. The Later Years Part 2 1829-1834; VI. The Later Years Part 3 1835-1839. Revised, arranged, and edited by Chester L. Shaver, Mary Moorman and Alan G. Hill.
Oxford: Oxford University Press at the Clarendon Press, 1967-2000. 8vo. 6 volumes (of 8). Second Edition. Originally published in 6 volumes between 1935 and 1939 and edited by Ernest de Selincourt. Volumes 1-5 are first impressions of this Second Edition (1967-79). Volume 6 appears to be a print on demand reprint (2000). Original navy cloth, gilt. The first three volumes have the ink ownership of A. H. Gomme on the flyleaves. Contents clean. Unclipped d/ws are a bit dust-soiled, marked, rubbed and worn with some small loss. Near fine in good d/ws. Item #8314
The Second Edition was completed with two further volumes: VII. The Later Years Part 4 1840-1853 (1988); VIII. A Supplement of New Letters (1993). The back panel of the jacket of volume V admits that volume IV was 'erroneously numbered volume III' - this mistake was on the jacket and the title page and makes for quite a confusing sequence on the shelf. The books belonged to A. H. Gomme (1930-2008) when he was at Keele University.
