Aquatints hand-printed by A. Alexander & Sons Ltd. Twelve tissue-guarded aquatints by the artist. A few of the tissue-guards are creased from careless closing. Contents clean and without any marks. A remarkably fresh copy. Loosely inserted is a two-sided photocopy of a letter, dated June 22 1944, by John Piper explaining the origin of the book. 'The medium of aquatint is slow and laborious. I was taught the handling of it by Mr. Malcolm, an assistant at my old art school - the Royal College of Art - and there I etched the plates during a college vacation.'.
