Full-colour plate section featuring three pages from the Book of Mazarbul, created by J. R. R. Tolkien, with two additional Hobbit family trees by him. It includes the original red and black maps drawn by Christopher Tolkien, two of which appear as fold-out sheets. Bought in the original shrink-wrap which has been removed in order to catalogue the book. As new. Item #8647
This edition, published to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the first appearance of The Fellowship of the Ring, also includes the appendices and a revised and updated index. The 'definitive' edition of the text. The publisher's accompanying description states that the covers are red and the marker ribbon is red as well; both statements are wrong.
