The Prospectus explained that the Book of Ruth 'has not shared with the Song of Songs and Ecclesiastes and great and incapacitating popularity among publishers, despite the fact that it is one of the finest and probably the earliest of "short stories"'. The severe limitation (for the Press) means that this is one of the scarcest and most sought after Nonesuch books. The batik paper is usually maroon, this appears to be a variant and is very attractive.
