The Third Pop-up Shop took place on 22nd July. The weather was kind and the forecast rain stayed away. There were several walk-ins by welcome passers-by. They included an American couple who were interested in a special edition of Dante to give as a present to their son who had graduated from college with a thesis on the Florentine. The Nonesuch Dante in orange vellum turned out to be just the thing and I found myself being recorded on camera phone describing the merits of the Bottcielli illustrations and the translation by Cary which was so familiar to poets such as Shelley. Sales like this are what make bookselling so wonderful and I'm already looking forward to the next event on Tuesday 22nd September.
